Trump on defense, a year early

I’m not sure what to make of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s rancorous split with our esteemed president, nor his hasty about-face on a vote to release the Epstein files. I did spot this tidbit on the series of tubes, though:

“President Trump has been consistently calling for transparency related to the Epstein files for years.” – White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson

Uh-huh.

Oceania is at war with Eastasia. Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

My best guess is that there is something less than flattering about Trump that has not yet been released, but his propaganda machine has calculated that its spin for that thing will be less damaging than continuing the feud.

As far as MTG goes, I expected Republican support for Trump to wane, but a little closer to the midterms than this. And of course, I expect any motivations of dissenting Republicans to be no less self-interested than the lockstep Trump sycophancy has been. It’s not like they’ve suddenly discovered their jackassery and are appalled by it. They’re just positioning for Trump’s decline. He’s been so unassailable for so long and we have been so smart to back him—but he’s flying a little high now, isn’t he?

And—(squinting)—does the wax on his wings look a little shinier to you now?

However things go, it’s refreshing to see Trump playing defense. And maybe it’s one of the pieces that must fall into place for genuine 2028 candidates to emerge.

    • Hard to know exactly what she’s up to. One thing is for sure: she’s said so much loony shit it’ll be pretty much impossible for me to ever consider her any sort of political ally, even in the rudimentary “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” sense.
