Letter #9: Dale Strong, take two

This is actually my third letter to Dale Strong. I didn’t make a post out of the one I hand-delivered to his Huntsville office last month.

The reply I received from Strong was polite and safe, of course. He’s clearly giving no consideration whatsoever to a real town hall, nor would he dare speak out against President Trump.

So, I’m inviting him to.

Dear Representative Strong,Thank you for your March 14 reply to my letter of February 7, in which I expressed considerable concern about Elon Musk’s access to sensitive government systems as well as the antagonistic and unprofessional way federal employees are being treated.
In your reply, you stress your concerns about government waste and your agreement with the stated mission of DOGE. As I said in my first letter, I am all for government efficiency. I believe we should have “the smallest government we can get away with,” as many have said throughout American history.
However, as these efforts have been executed, it is clear that intents to disorient and frighten our federal workforce were and are top priorities. That is unacceptable.
It is clear that unnecessary access to sensitive government systems, including Social Security and the IRS, was a top priority. That is unacceptable.
It is clear that Elon Musk and Donald Trump, two ostensibly talented professionals, are failing to operate with the measured, methodical approach that even a first-year business student would say is indicated. That is unacceptable.
And now, having suitably traumatized our valuable government employees, President Trump is destroying their savings with an absurd trade war he clearly does not understand.
It is time for sensible, responsible, decent Republicans to call this rogue president to account. Mr. Strong, I know you know this isn’t right. A strong and rational voice against this wantonly destructive agenda would be very powerful and could begin restoring sanity to our political discourse.
I think that voice should be yours.
Sincerely yours,

Bo Williams
